Organic Gardening with Kids.   Making homemade pasta
4-7-11

Spring is almost here so I am excited to work in my organic garden with my kids again. Gardening with your kids can be one of the most rewarding things you can do.   You can show them where food comes from, how to plant seeds, about organic composting and most importantly how fun just being outside with your kids can be.

Every year I grow vegetables with my kids and they learn when to pick vegetables attheir peak and what vegetables go best with certain dishes in the kitchen. Cooking with your kids using foods they helped grow will increase the likelihood of getting your kids to eat green vegetables and to them living a life around family and food.

The family dinner will become the centerpiece of your day and hopefully the favorite memories your kids will have in the future. You can use your own organic garden to make your own baby food, make your own toddler food, and eventually feed your family healthy fast dinners that are made up of real food, prepared simply, to make simple family meals that even busy parents can put together. Being a Chef and Father, I am a busy parent just like you and I hope to teach parents to cook family dinners that are easy and fun and I hope to inspire families to spend time in the kitchen and garden together. It’s all about food in my home and I am proud every time my kids eat vegetables and try new foods. I try to lead by example and make it fun.   Have fun spending time in the garden with your kids this year and change your life.

Gardening, cooking, family time, learning, art, it all happens around the dinner table which is why I say…life happens at the table.

Enjoy this video of my kids and I cooking together last year and I hope to see you at your local farmer’s market this year.
